Destination - A day in San Francsico

I love visiting San Francisco.  I lived in New York City for 2 years while attending grad school and miss the energy and chaos of city life.
Our day in the city (that's what Northern California people call San Francisco) started with a quick coffee stop at Philz in Palo Alto.  Have you tried their Iced Coffee Mojito?  Divine!  Try it tomorrow!  Lunch at B Bar overlooking the skyline and enjoying the sunshine and truffle fries.
What did I wear?  Layers were key because although it was sunny and clear the wind was feisty!  I actually wear this outfit weekly, I've always been a dress or skirt over pants kind of girl.  I'm always cold and I ride my biker everywhere in La Jolla, this is my way of smashing fashion and function together.

Then TDH and I cruised Chestnut and Union to scout out stores and studios for Borelli.
I could have spent hours in the the tucked away garden of Union Street Papery.
Where I would live if we moved to the city, it was a block from the water and covered in seafoam green and gold accents.
Where are your favorite spots in San Francisco?

Drive - Biking in Copenhagen

Guess what tomorrow is?  Bike to work day!  How many of you bike on a daily basis?  I hop on the beach cruiser often for a quick coffee break, post office run, the market or dinner with friends.  Try it out tomorrow or over the weekend.  Studies in San Diego show,  one in five first-time Bike to Work Day riders became regular bike commuters.  (San Diego Association of Governments)

The locals in Copenhagen LOVE to bike.  The city is compact and easy to navigate.  See you in Nyhavn!

Drift / 8 / What to wear in Copenhagen

Copenhagen is a bit chilly in spring.  Actually, it's FREEZING for two sisters from California.  Bundle up and travel comfortably with these tips!

What to wear in Copenhagen
* Killer boots.  Everyone wears cool shoes in Europe, no matter what time of day or the season.  (It must be taught in school.)  Even the moms at school pick-up are donning adorable wedge heel boots and their mode of transportation is a bike.  I can barely ride a bike in flats!
*  Fleece lined leggings.  I picked up mine at the Max Studio outlets in Napa.
*  Bright colored mens button down shirt.  This pink number I was actually hoping to buy for TDH (he lives in neon) but TopShop Men only had a small.  Sorry hun, guess I get to keep it!
* Headwear.  Anything knitted or warm will do.  It rarely drops below 60* in Southern California so I was thrilled to put my knit baseball cap to use I picked up in Milan awhile back.
* Scarf.  A BORELLI active scarf of course!  What other accessory wicks away your sweat while biking around the sites, warms you up when taking a boat tour or doubles as a towel for the shared bathrooms while staying in hostels?
* Fingerless gloves.  Yes, I know regular gloves would keep your hands warmer but then it's difficult to take pictures!
* Jacket.  I would go with anything warm and comfortable.  I wear this one from Theory ALL the time (also worn here).  I snatched it up 70% off at a chaotic yet exhilarating sample sale while attending grad school in New York City.  For those not living in the city, Gilt Groupe provides the same deals from the comfort of your own computer.

Traveling Office

The positive (and negative) thing about working for yourself is you can work anywhere.  And I mean anywhere.  But once you find something you love it doesn't feel like work anymore.  You no longer mind logging 14 hour days all week long.  I love to travel but that doesn't mean I take the weekend or week off.  I always bring a computer, iPad and notebook for ideas.  Here's a peak into my "travel offices".

Drift / 6 / Salt Lake City

Although it's 70 degrees in La Jolla (not like that ever changes) I'm pretending it's chilly because I'm finalizing the fall collection for Borelli.  Fall 2012 is leaning towards jewel tones and grandma chic, a random yet fun mix of prints and colors inspired by my travels in India and my late Grandmother Lorraine.
To see more of Borelli's fall inspiration head over to our pinboards - Fall - G-Ma.
I was flying back to San Diego after a week in Salt Lake City for the Outdoor Retailer show and Alt Summit.  It was an exhausting trip and I just wanted to cuddle up to my Southwest Airlines seatmate.  TDH rarely gets jealous but that would be going too far.  So, I cuddled with my wrap dress instead.  I designed it back while attending UCLA for undergrad.  (Yes, I keep clothes for a VERY long time, I still wear things from high school.)  The boots were a very calculated purchase, I didn't have enough confidence to pull them off at first.  But once I took the plunge I couldn't take them off.  You can ride a bike or wear a sexy dress or mini shorts with 'em.

Shooting Borelli's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection in Belize

For this season's Borelli campaign we headed to Belize.  We spent a week shooting the new Spring/Summer colors at Matachica Resort and Spa and Ak'bol Yoga and Eco Retreat on San Pedro Island.  The bright teal ocean, vibrant casitas and white sands were the perfect backdrop for our new palette of Tangerine, Lilac, Bahama Green, Navy and Sunrise Pink.  You can view more of the shoot on our Facebook Page.
