Borelli How To Styling Video with Laurie B Style

Last week I had the pleasure of working with the LA based stylist, Laurie Brucker from Laurie B Style.  She loves her Borelli scarf so much she created three new ways to wear it!  Check out the video below for a step-by-step guide to wearing your Borelli Active scarf all summer long.

This video was made possible by the young and talented Ian-Thoms Kagihara and the entire team at Rachel Meis Communications.

DIY - Global Coffee Table

For a few years now I've been saving bills from each country's currency I visit.  They don't take up as much space as coins and are super lightweight.  Every ounce counts when you are backpacking or living out of a carry-on for 5 weeks.  As a designer, my favorites are color and name driven.  Hong Kong is never one to blend in with the crowd and covers their bills in HOT pink.  Australia has been using Pantone's color of the year, Tangerine Tango for years.  Last but not least is India, for the sole reason I just miss paying in Rupees!
Instead of letting the bills gather dust we used them to decorate our drab Ikea coffee table.  Any glass top table with a layer underneath would work.  Plus it's a great conversation piece for your next dinner party.

A few more recipes for the dinner party I mentioned.

Borelli Spring/Summer 2012 Color Palette

We've been working around the clock at BORELLI launching our new website and luxury knit scarf line DRIFT.  Here's a peak into what inspired this season's color palette.  The blessing (and sometimes curse) of working in a creative industry is anything can ignite the spark - ice cream, succulents, waves, wallpaper, paintings and cocktails.   I attempt to organize my overflowing mind on pinterest.  I would love to hear how you keep all of your ideas organized.  Have you started pinning yet?  Careful, it's more addictive than facebook.

Now what colors for Fall/Winter?  Any requests?

Camera+

I'm relatively new to the iphone, TDH and I switched from the Droid a few months ago.  A huge difference is the camera, the clarity is amazing. One of my favorite apps so far has been Camera +. Here are a few shots from the weekend, all edited in Camera +.

How to throw an ALT party

Last week I attended Altitude Summit, otherwise known as ALT, in Salt Lake City.  I met talented established and up and coming bloggers from all over the world.  I have more posts in progress on what I learned and how it can help you but for now let's make this Tuesday a little lighter and celebrate the art of party hosting.  Hope this provides some inspiration for your next event.  Ciao mi amici.

Cabo San Lucas - Day 1

Cabo Day 1 – Saturday
The flight from San Diego to Los Cabos was quick, thankfully because I was stuck with the middle seat.  TDH and I sat next to an adorable little man, around 70.  He was wearing the coolest tan straw fedora and Easter egg yellow shirt.  I wanted his whole outfit!  Customs was quick but the moment you crossed the security doors hawkers swarmed us shouting, “You have a reservation with us, I work for your hotel, you come with us!”  TDH is a negotiator, he bets on EVERYTHING and always trying to make a deal.  He plays along for a bit with these men until I am able to tear him away.  I set up a private driver, recommended by the hotel.  Our first friend, Ernesto was standing right outside the airport doors with a big sign of our names.  We throw our luggage in the car and peel off towards Cabo San Lucas, the opposite direction of Los Cabos.
Along the way we stopped at Santa Carmela Market.  Adorable, family run and offered all the necessities of a week in Cabo – totopos (tortilla chips), limes, cilantro, veggies, avocados, sprouted bread, cheese, orangina, soymilk (unsweetened!) and locally made granola.  I was a bit worrisome because nothing had a price tag but we walked out with 3 big bags at $50 USD.
10 minutes later we arrived at Villa La Estancia.  The lobby was ornate (but not I want to throw up ornate), reminded me of Turnberry Place in Las Vegas.  The staff was lovely and offered much needed chilled waters and Tecates.  Five minutes after we entered the room I am buzzing around thinking of all the places I want to try and see, beach, pool, private Jacuzzi, running from room to room.  TDH on the other hand plops on the couch and flips on football.  THIS is where we differ, he LOVES to relax.  I wish I did.  I envy people who can sit in one place for hours and read a book.  But, it’s not me and never will be.  I tried to soak in the scenery from the balcony but quickly get anxious and ran down to the beach.  Ahhhhh, sunset in Cabo, toes in the sand, can’t believe earlier that day I was tending to the chickens and garden in San Diego.
All photos taken with my iphone - either left raw or manipulated in Picfx or Camera+

When traveling I take a million photos.  They range from artsy to scenic to personal but some are just for fun.  Here are a few to make you smile from Ireland to Denmark to San Diego  :)

Rollercoaster Week

Back in San Diego for a full week . . .  The family visited for a few days and we covered it all, the Zoo, George's, La Jolla Art and Wine Festival and BRCR.  Since they flew home I've been playing catch up, trying out new gyms, attempting to follow the Half Marathon training guide and my favorite! whipping up delicious meals for my good friend Amy Meier and her newest addition Maggie.  I was also honored to guest blog again on FitsCute.  Check it out here.  Plans for the weekend?  GARDEN, GARDEN, GARDEN.  My raised bed is finally ready to plant!
